Highschool
I joined my highschool wrestling team my freshman year. As a freshman I was the only girl on the boys team. I wrestled some dual meets before I competed at CCS (our qualifying tournament for our state meet). I went 0-2 at CCS, I felt devastated but it lit a fire under me.

That summer I joined a local club Santa Cruz Gold where under our coach Garry Garcia I trained with other wrestlers in the community. Here I discovered my first sense of female community in wrestling. My first training partner Camila Barranco graciously taught me wrestling drills and pushed me in the room.

The following year our highschool hired a womens coach and we gained a few new faces in the room. My sophmore year I began to compete at womens tournaments throughout California, I started to going to an additional club IQ Wrestling lead by Shawn Henebry. Here I made amazing friends and was able to elevate my wrestling. That year I took 4th at CCS missing our state championship by one match.
My junior year I continued training year round. I began competing over the summer in local USA tournaments and adding in consistent strength and conditioning plans. Despite my athletic ambitions I had my heart set on going to an Ivy League institution for college. I kept my grades high and completed any AP classes offered additionally I joined our school leadership program. In my spare time I volunteered at my former middle school wrestling programm.

I began to see success in wrestling and that year I won CCS and punched my ticket to state where I placed 7th. My senior year I continued my momentum and became a 2x CCS Champion. In the fall I applied to college and caught wind of a wrestling club at Columbia University. I got connected with some of the athletes and alumni. That year I was a state runner up and got accepted into my dream school Columbia University.
My freshman year I was on campus for my first semester. I joined the mens team in their preseason workouts and began to set my roots in NYC. While we didn't have much of season I was able to see what my future would look like at Columbia. My as a sophmore our club hired our current head coach Emma Randall! Under Emma's leadership we began to recuit women to our club and grow our presence on campus. I begain training alongside the mens program along with our weekly womens club practice. My sophmore year I made my first U23 and U20 team and placed third at the US Open.

As our club grew we formed a strong community, we welcomed season wrestlers and first year wrestlers alike. That summer I stayed in the city and trained alongside my teammates at the NYCRTC.
